Liverpool transfer: ‘Next Haaland’ rejects move as Bayern make Firmino decision

Liverpool have already been very busy in the January transfer window with the signing of Cody Gakpo and remain linked to a vast array of players that they could potentially be set to pursue between now and the end of the month

Liverpool have so far made one of the most lucrative moves of all of the Premier League clubs put together this January with the signing of Cody Gakpo.

The Dutch winger arrived from Eredivisie side PSV earlier this month for a £37m fee and has already made his first start for his new employers. The Reds do not look likely to be stopping there with more players being linked with making moves to Anfield before the window closes.

A midfielder remains on the club’s shopping list with names such as Jude Bellingham and Sofyan Amrabat potential signings to have been mentioned. With all of that being said, here are the standout rumours coming out of Anfield over the last 24 hours:

‘Next Haaland’ rejects Liverpool move

Liverpool have reportedly been rejected by Norway wonderkid Andreas Schjelderup. The Reds have been linked with a move for the Nordsjælland starlet with reports from TV2 suggesting that they and Premier League rivals Brentford have ‘presented specific projects’ to the 18-year-old.

However, their move for him is reportedly set to end in frustration with Portuguese giants Benfica also making a move. They are apparently set to fly to Copenhagen to negotiate a move with Nordsjælland.

Meanwhile, Schjelderup is apparently determined to move to the Estadio da Luz. He has been compared to Erling Haaland in the past.

Bayern move on from Firmino

Whilst Liverpool will not be adding Schjelderup to their forward options, it will be a boost to the Reds knowing that they can keep Brazilian striker Roberto Firmino for the time being. The 31-year-old sees his contract expire at the end of the season and he could be set to leave Anfield on a free transfer.

Bayern Munich were credited with an interest in him but if reports are to believed, they have moved on. As per BILD, via Bavarian Football Works, the Brazilian has not been discussed by Bayern and he is not currently of interest with the German giants feeling as though they have enough options in his position.

Instead, Bayern are focussing on a deal for RB Leipzig star Konrad Laimer and finding an agreement with Lucas Hernandez for a new deal.

Liverpool make Terrier ‘contact’

Liverpool to battle Arsenal for Martin Terrier

According to Media Foot, Liverpool have made contact with Rennes to sign forward Martin Terrier. He has caught the eye with his performances for the French club and it is suggested that it could cost a minimum of 35 million euros (£30.8million) to secure a deal for him.

Premier League rivals Man Utd and Arsenal have also been credited with an interest in him, whilst the Reds are well-stocked in attack right now so a move seems unlikely.
