“I speak on behalf of all the lads”- Liverpool superstar makes blunt Darwin Nunez admission after win vs Leicester City

Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold talks about Darwin Nunez

Liverpool FC — 'Outstanding' - Trent Alexander-Arnold hails Darwin Nunez

As has been the case ever since he made a move to the Reds over the summer, Darwin Nunez once again found himself at the centre of plenty of chances in the Reds’ lucky 2-1 win against Leicester City but failed to convert any of those chances.

Even though his form in front of goal has not been bad by any means, the conversion rates are a tad bit concerning. Even with that, he has nine goals and three assists in 21 appearances across all competitions.

The only problem is that a certain player who joined the Premier League in the same window as him, is outperforming everyone by racking up monstrous numbers and not everyone is a generational talent like Erling Haaland. It is worth noting that Nunez’s movements have been absolutely top-notch and it is just a matter of time before he starts clocking up the numbers.

Liverpool stars Darwin Nunez and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Trent Alexander-Arnold spoke about him recently and lauded the player for actually getting into the positions he is in and brushed off all criticism as a part and parcel of life. In all fairness, both these players have been on the receiving end of some unneeded criticism and who better than the Scouser to talk about it? Here is what he said via The Mirror:

“I think I speak on behalf of all the lads: he’s been, I think, outstanding since he came in. People will judge him on his goals and that’s part of being a striker, that’s part of life.”

“But I think he can keep walking off the pitch with his head held high because he is getting in positions that are really, really hurting the opposition.”

“He’s such a threat, he’s getting in behind, he’s holding the ball up, he’s flicking balls on, he’s doing everything that the manager has asked of him. His pressing, his attitude, his desire, you can’t question any of it.”

Nunez will find goals sooner than later

There is nothing much to add to what Trent said as most of it is true. The only problem we can find with Nunez at the moment is his finishing which he could work upon. Rest assured, the timing of his runs have been so precise that he regularly finds himself in spots from where scoring a goal is not extremely tough for a player at that level.

Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez.

There is still a lot of games to be played in the season, and the opportunities will certainly come Darwin’s way. He has a chance to get on the scoresheet for the first time since 12th November, when he scored a brace against Southampton in the league.

Liverpool are up against Brentford in the league on 2nd January, and Nunez would definitely want to put a few past David Raya. The Londoners have conceded six goals in their last five games, and our #27 would hope to add to those numbers.

The 23-year-old is still six months into his contract with the Reds which lasts until 2028 (Transfermarkt) and the critics will certainly know that the player won’t blank like he has been now till then. The author is fully confident in Nunez and hopes that he will certainly live up to his potential £85m price tag.
