“Wild nature can be extremely cruel when necessary, but that’s just how it functions. The African wilderness is home to many notorious predators, among which the Nile crocodile (Crocodylus niloticus) stands out. Despite its slow and clumsy appearance, the crocodile is a fearsome predator both in water and on land.
Crocodiles are a species of animals whose ancestors appeared on land at the same time as the great dinosaurs. Over millions of years of evolution, they have changed their appearance and perfected their abilities to become one of the most dangerous and fearsome species on the planet.
According to scientists’ statistics, there are up to 24 different species of crocodiles that exist on Earth, but when it comes to the level of danger and respect that humans have towards them, there is no doubt that the Nile crocodile deserves special mention.
The Nile crocodile is a massive species of crocodile from Africa (when fully grown, it measures over 5 meters and weighs more than 250 kg), considered a terrifying carnivorous predator for all creatures, including humans. Due to its brutality, the Nile crocodile was highly respected by the ancient Egyptians, who even mummified and worshiped their bodies as if they were gods.
According to CrocBITE statistics, from 1884 to 2017, there were 1,014 cases of Nile crocodile attacks on humans, of which 717 were fatal (a mortality rate of 70%, much higher than that of the saltwater crocodile, which is 57%).
During their vacation, the duo Marce Jacobs and Stephen Kangisser witnessed the horrifying destructive power of the Nile crocodile. That day, the group of tourists decided to make a stop in an empty field with direct views of the impressive sunset. In front of them, there was a peaceful scene of impalas drinking water slowly and vultures flying in the sky. It was a peaceful scene that comforted the soul, a sensation of healing never before experienced, which made the group of tourists forget all their worries and the hardships of life.
Suddenly, a huge Nile crocodile caught everyone’s attention. The animal approached slowly to the riverbank and approached another smaller crocodile. Faced with such an unexpected attack from its own kind, the smaller crocodile tried to resist, but it was not enough. The Nile crocodile grabbed its prey in its mouth and began to enjoy its meal.”
