You may have heard about Keanu Reeves‘ new girlfriend, Alexandra Grant, either because you’re invested in the John Wick star’s love life … or you’re on Twitter. Social media was taken by storm when the actor and his new lady made their red carpet debut as a couple at the LACMA Art and Film Gala on November 2 — and folks everywhere mistook the artist for actress Dame Helen Mirren.
“I saw that,” the 74-year-old legend told Entertainment Tonight of the Twitter mix-up on November 6. “That was very flattering on me, you know, because she’s obviously lovely.” Sounds like the Englishwoman totally ships it!
Plus, she dished about her close friendship with the actor — and how fortunate his new lady is to have him. “I do know Keanu very well. He did a film with my husband and he is just the most adorable, lovely person,” Helen said of Keanu’s work on the 1997 horror film The Devil’s Advocate. “So she’s a lucky girl and I’m sure that he’s a lucky boy.”
Life & Style exclusively revealed Alexandra and Keanu, 55, were dating on November 4. “Friends are convinced that Keanu and Alexandra’s friendship has turned romantic,” a source explained. “Everyone is ecstatic that he’s finally found happiness with such a wonderful woman. Keanu doesn’t stop raving about her!”
But their red carpet debut wasn’t even the first time these two were spotted out looking cozy. The adorable couple was seen grabbing sushi together in West Hollywood on October 18. “It looked like they were on a date,” an insider dished at the time.
And it seems as though Alexandra, 46, is just the kind of woman Keanu needs in his life. “She’s kind, warm and spiritual, just like Keanu, and a great communicator,” a source told Life & Style exclusively. “She’s one of the few people who’s managed to get Keanu to open up about his emotions and past.”
The Bill & Ted actor’s former partner, Jennifer Syme, passed away in a car accident in 2001, just two years after their daughter was tragically stillborn. “Keanu was so traumatized by her death that there were times when he couldn’t get out of bed in the morning,” a source explained, adding that “everything changed” when Alexandra became a part of his life.
“He was in such a dark place for so long, but Alexandra’s positive outlook and support have played a huge part in helping him turn his life around,” the insider explained. “Some say she’s not only stolen his heart but she’s also saved him.”
