England captain Harry Kane has been linked with a blockbuster transfer from Tottenham to Manchester United this summer.
Harry Kane’s former Tottenham team-mate Danny Rose has lifted the lid on a conversation that may show where the England captain’s ambitions lie, as he continues to be linked with a move to Manchester United this summer. Kane has just over a year left on his contract in north London and without putting pen to paper on a new deal yet, rumours will swirl over his future amid uncertainty at the club.
Spurs have no permanent head coach or sporting director as big decisions need to be made by chief Daniel Levy or he will run the risk of Kane leaving.
United and Chelsea are said to be the Premier League teams vying for his signature, who could cost as much as £100million this summer despite potentially being available for free in another 12 months’ time.
It is not the first time that Kane has gone through a transfer saga however, having failed to secure a move to Manchester City in 2021. He reportedly wanted to link up with Pep Guardiola at the Etihad in order to break his trophy duck, but the two sides were unable to agree on a fee and Erling Haaland then moved to Manchester the following summer.

Rose has since opened up on a conversation he had with Kane regarding his place at City if a move did go through. He told Stadium Astro: “I remember when I was still at the club, we were having a conversation and he said, ‘Gosh, if I was at [Manchester] City I would score 45 goals.’ I remember thinking, yeah OK Harry calm down, and actually looking at it now I think he’s right, he could easily score 45 goals.”
Kane clearly believes that he can translate his goals at Spurs to another team and match Haaland, which may bolster the chances of potential suitors this summer if he has no reservations about adapting to another club having spent nearly 20 years at Spurs.

This season Kane has 27 league goals, three off his personal best from 2017/18, but remains well behind Haaland who has smashed his tally in his first season at Manchester City.
Haaland has 36 goals in 33 league games so far this campaign, while also within touching distance of securing a treble should City go on and win one of their three remaining games to lift the title in addition to potential Champions League and FA Cup victories.
Kane, by comparison, has yet to win a major honour with club or country but could be given the chance to change his fortunes with another team as United and Chelsea prepare to battle for the 29-year-old this summer.
