Bruno Fernandes and his wife stock up for their new lives in England as Man United’s £68m signing loads up his trolley in supermarket spree

After enjoying a perfect start to life at Manchester United, the club’s new £68million signing Bruno Fernandes has decided it’s time to get settled in off the pitch.

Fernandes, who joined from Portuguese outfit Sporting Lisbon in the January transfer window, was pictured shopping with his wife Ana Pinho in Tesco in Altrincham town centre on Wednesday.

The pair have stocked up for their new lives in Manchester by going on a supermarket spree for household necessities, evident from their shopping trolley which was full to the brim as they headed back to their car in the car park.

Their supermarket purchases included an ironing board, drying rack, household brush, toilet roll and bottles of coke as they seek to adapt to their new surroundings as soon as possible.

The Portugal international, who first met his wife when they were 16 at school, has hit the ground running since his big-money transfer – scoring his first goal for his new club in the comfortable 3-0 victory over Watford last weekend.

He is set to play some sort of role when United host Club Brugge in the second leg of their Europa League last-32 tie on Thursday, with the scoreline poised at 1-1.

Speaking before the European game at Old Trafford, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could not speak highly enough of the newest member of his squad.

He said: ‘We feel we’ve added some x-factor quality with Bruno.

‘The addition of Bruno gives us a bit of a different flavour. He likes to play forward passes and take risks, which a Manchester United player should do.

‘His imagination and his overview, picture, is a couple of seconds ahead of many players.

‘It is one of his strengths he knows what he wants to do. He can change his mind in a split-second. That composure has been important.

‘I think Bruno will only improve by coming here to a stronger league, stronger opponents and stronger team-mates, getting used to us.

‘We want to develop that x-factor. He’s come in and impressed everyone but we don’t want to put a limit on what he can do.’

United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has heaped plenty of praise on his new signing
