Selena Gomez has been very vocal about her battle with anxiety and depression, but her latest revelation is one that means her struggle may never end.
Selena Gomez has opened up about her ongoing battle with depression.
The former Disney starlet recently completed a two-week stint in rehab to work on her mental health issues. While she has always championed the importance of being open with her struggles, she recently spoke to Harper’s Bazaar to admit her fight is far from over.
“I’ve had a lot of issues with depression and anxiety, and I’ve been very vocal about it, but it’s not something I feel I’ll ever overcome,” the 25-year-old stated. “There won’t be a day when I’m like, ‘Here I am in a pretty dress – I won!’ I think it’s a battle I’m gonna have to face for the rest of my life, and I’m okay with that because I know that I’m choosing myself over anything else.”
According to Page Six, the “Fetish” singer completed her most recent treatment program at Connecticut’s Privy-Swiss facility, where a 30-day stay can set you back $120,000. The star concentrated on therapy, healthy eating, meditation, and pilates.
Gomez hit headlines recently for her reconciliation with on-again-of boyfriend, Justin Bieber. The pair first started dating after meeting in 2009. At the time, Gomez was 18 and Bieber was 16. While it was love’s young dream at first, they went on to split sometime in 2014, breaking the hearts of fans the world over. Gomez moved on to date The Weeknd, while Bieber made a name for himself dating just about any model he could find. When news broke of Gomez’s split from the TheWeeknd, it wasn’t long before she was spotted out with Justin in October of last year. The couple have been seen on multiple occasions since and are believed to be back on—hopefully once and for all.
Gomez also revealed last year that her lupus condition had worsened, which in turn caused her to undergo a kidney transplant.
