Erling Haaland’s first coach Alf Ingve Berntsen spoke to ‘El Periodico de España’, and claimed that being bored is the only way that the Norwegian goal machine will be stopped in becoming the highest-scoring player in history.
Haaland is one of the biggest names in football at the moment. The Norwegian just keeps on growing his goal-scoring figures every game and is well on the way to becoming one of the sport’s highest goal-scorers.
The Nordic’s first ever coach, Alf Ingve Berntsen, spoke to ‘El Periodico de España’, and gave his opinion on the only thing which can stop the striker: “If injuries, but mostly boredom, don’t prevent him”.
“Erling is still the same in many ways: he loves training, scoring and smiling. Anyone that sees one of his videos as a child will see that”, the manager added.
Berntsen also spoke about Haaland’s entourage: “His father, who was also a footballer at the top level, always knews how to maximise his potential and the managers who coach him. What’s more, he’s been key in getting him to improve at each club”.
And to conclude, Belgian Alex Carninx, who played with the Norwegian in Molde for a few seasons claimed that he was already showing promise. “Even at that stage, just after he’d turned 18, he showed massive ambition. He had a lot of character for someone so young and his eagerness to score was incredible”, he finished by saying.
