Occasionally the unexpected occurs during an animal’s prenatal development.
These rare cases are considered strange, and even bordering on the inexplicable. Sometimes these genetic abnormalities occur naturally, while other times these mutations are artificial and have served humanity’s supposedly questionable benefit. These mutations can be the result of selective breeding or an alteration of the creature at the genetic level.
Regardless of the history or the reasons behind the unique characteristics of these animals, these creatures are considered genetically mutated specimens, becoming aberrations to some and gods to others. Αnd this has been the case of a calf, which was born with human-like characteristics in an animal shelter in India.
The calf with a human face
The strange calf was born with eyes, nose and ears similar to those of a human, while the lower part of its body had the characteristics of a cow. However, the calf ᴅιᴇᴅ an hour after it was born in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, north India.
The inhabitants believe that the calf is Gokarna, one of the 24 incarnations of Vishnu. Αnd most surprising of all is that the authorities are already thinking of building a temple for the calf.
“God has taken the birth of a local calf,” said Mahesh Kathuria, a 50-year-old businessman who went to see the “divine envoy.” “We have come here seeking his blessings. Religiously, he is an avatar of Vishnu. We believe it is a character similar to that mentioned in the Bhagavata-purana, a Hindu religious text.”
Raja Bhaiya Mishra, the manager of the animal shelter, said it was a miracle. Furthermore, within three days they will cremate him and build a temple. He added that his mother was rescued from a butcher and she was taken to the shelter six months ago before she became pregnant.
“It is a miracle that the calf was born in this shelter,” Raja said. “Thousands of people have come here to see it. We are going to cremate him within three days and build a temple for him. Without a doubt, this avatar has created a devotion and sensation among the people.”
However, vets have a different opinion about its birth. They believe that it is an anatomical abnormality, a gene that did not develop correctly, causing multiple structural deformities.
“This is a case of an anatomical abnormality,” said Dr. Αjay Deshmukh, a veterinarian with the Indian Wildlife SOS association. “If a gene did not develop correctly or there is a failure, it causes multiple structural deformities, and these types of abnormalities happen. It has only scientific reasons and explanations, there are no superstitions here.”
Whether or not it is a genetic anomaly, this calf has caused quite a stir in the Indian community. For them it is the avatar of a Hindu god, while the scientific community believes that it may be a genetic anomaly. Who knows.
What do you think? Genetic abnormality? Or the avatar of a Hindu god?
