‘Iron Man 3‘ is firmly back on track after Robert Downey Jr recovered from his ankle injury and returned to the set. Principal photography was halted on August 18, 2012, when the actor hurt himself while performing a minor stunt.
After taking a couple of weeks off, Downey Jr is back on his feet and resumed filming in Miami this week. A replica of the Malibu, California, seafood restaurant Neptune’s Net was recreated for a sequence in the film, with some intrepid comic-book fans managing to take snaps and leak them online. According to Entertainment Weekly, the actual restaurant is a popular hangout for surfers and bikers, and as Tony Stark lives in Malibu, it’s likely that the scene will see him grabbing a bite to eat before heading out to fight crime.
Despite the delays, Marvel insist Iron Man 3 remains on track for a May 3, 2013, release date, though it’s likely that director Shane Black and his team will be working plenty of long nights to get it ready in time. Meanwhile, fans of the Iron Man series should mark their calendars as Marvel promises the first teaser trailer will debut at 12.01am on October 23, 2012.
Robert Downey Jr and his wife Susan have opened up about their desire to launch a Marvel-style film universe for Sherlock Holmes.

Robert Downey Jr. wants to launch a Sherlock Holmes film universe.
The 55-year-old actor played the legendary detective in Guy Ritchie’s take on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s character in the 2009 film and its 2011 sequel ‘Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows’.
The Hollywood star also played Iron Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and is hoping to launch a similar franchise with Holmes.
Speaking at Fast Company’s Innovation Festival, he explained: “At this point, we really feel there’s not a mystery-verse built out anywhere, and Conan Doyle is the definitive voice in that arena to this day, so to me, why do a third movie if you’re not going to be able to spin off into some real gems of diversity, and other times and elements?
“We’re not repeaters, we don’t want to just try to do what’s been done somewhere else. But I think the model itself has become much more dimensionalised than it was before.”
Robert is set to reprise his role alongside Jude Law as Dr. John Watson in a third film, which is being directed by Dexter Fletcher and is slated for release in December 2021.
However, his wife and producing partner Susan Downey feels that the franchise could be expanded further.
She said: “Doing a one-off third movie, we could do, but we do think there’s opportunity to build it out more, to spin off some characters from the third movie, to see what’s going on in the television landscape, to see how Warner Media is starting to build things out with HBO and HBOMax.
“We definitely have kind of grand schemes and plans and all that, but it takes a lot. It takes a lot of coordination because again, Marvel wasn’t built in a day. It took several wins and things that worked very well to then be able to connect them, to then be able to branch out.”
