Frame SUV Maxus Territory enters the market: diesel and rich versions.
The new all-terrain vehicle from Celestial Empire is also distinguished by quite catchy appearance, but the interior is quite traditional.
SUV, whose name from Chinese can be translated as Territory, owned by concern SAIC brand Maxus introduced at the end of August, and now at home sales have started («live» photos published by Autohome).
This SUV company positions as a completely new model, but in fact before us survived the second — and more profound — upgrades frame all-terrain vehicle D90.
«Ninety» in the ranks since 2017, it, in turn, was made on the basis of the Maxus T60 pickup, and the first restyling of passenger SUV was conducted in 2020, and then the model received the prefix Pro.
By the way, D90 Pro remains in the range, it is not going to retire.
Well, let us remind you that the Maxus brand itself came from the once British company LDV, which at one time owned by GAZ Group (LDV brand exists today, it also belongs to concern SAIC).
From the «nineties» the new SUV has distinguished by exterior design: two-story headlamp, as in the upgraded T60 pickup (in China, this truck is also a separate model with an index T90), rover also received rectangular grille and a more impressive bumper.
The taillights are made in the form of a single plate. Compared to the original D90 Pro, the length increased by 41 mm to 5046 mm, width — 84 mm (2016 mm), height — by symbolic 1 mm (to 1876 mm).
Wheelbase is the same 2950 mm. Ground clearance is 230 mm vs. 210 mm of the pre-reform model.
Inside there is a new dashboard, center tunnel and door maps. Also changed the virtual «dashboard» (12.3 inches instead of an 8-inch screen in the D90 Pro), the control unit «climate» and a multimedia system (but the touchscreen did not become larger — 12.3 inches).
SUV is available in six- or seven-seat versions (the original Maxus D90 comes in five- or seven-seat versions).
Maxus Territory is offered in three rich versions. «In the base» there are adaptive diode headlights, «leather» interior, electric adjustment of the front seats, video recorder, wireless charging for smartphone, electric trunk door, three-zone climate control, all-around cameras and sunroof.
The front seats of the following seniority has ventilation and massager, this version also has adaptive cruise control, panoramic sunroof, valet, the system of contactless opening of the trunk and a system of «blind» zones monitoring.
The most expensive «hardcore» all-terrain vehicle has off-road tires and additional bottom protection (but for some reason, a panoramic roof is for extra charge).
It is available only with 2.0 twin-turbocharged diesel engine, which produces 218 hp and 500 Nm and combined with an eight-speed «automatic» ZF.
In addition, the engine has a superstructure in the form of a 48-volt starter generator.
Drive only four-wheel drive (with hard front axle). Maxus D90 Pro is also equipped with 218-horsepower turbodiesel, but without a hybrid add-on.
In this case for the «ninetieth» petrol «turbo four» 2.0 (218 hp, 350 Nm) is provided — an off-road vehicle with such an engine comes with both all-wheel and rear-wheel drive.
The price of the Maxus Territory ranges from $36,200 to $39,000. By comparison, the diesel D90 Pro costs from $33,400 and the gasoline SUV from $25,000.
Later, the new SUV should be exported — apparently under another name (there is a crossover Territory in Ford’s lineup).
In foreign markets, this Maxus will compete with Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and Isuzu MU-X.
This Chinese brand is not officially represented in our country, but one of the dealers may well decide to arrange the supply of the D90 Pro or its more luxurious variant under the scheme of parallel imports.
