Fabrizio Romano has claimed on the ‘House of Champions’ podcast that many players still want to join Chelsea this summer.
This is despite the dire run of form the club finds themselves in right now.
They are currently in a patch of form which includes two wins in 17 games, and isn’t showing any signs of getting better soon.
Their most recent outing was arguably the most infuriating for supporters. The Blues were defeated 2-0 against close rivals Tottenham.
Those who attend matches have made their feelings known about the manager, Graham Potter.
Calls for him to be sacked have been far and wide, although it has been reported that is not on the owners’ agenda just yet.
Best players still want to join Chelsea
There may be fears amongst the fanbase that with the current man in charge, their ability to spend big in the transfer window may be affected.
However, Romano has claimed that this won’t be the case at this stage.
He said: “Chelsea will be busy on many positions this summer and many players still want to join this summer as they expect Chelsea to be big in the future.
“Chelsea are going to take some time to see the price tag of strikers, who the manager is and who the right fit is for the project before deciding on that number 9 player.“
The Blues are already set to add Malo Gusto and Christopher Nkunku to their ranks when the season ends, and they will no doubt look to spend big to strengthen elsewhere.
In order to meet Financial Fair Play, they are certainly going to have to sell too. This could mean a number of homegrown players, like Mason Mount and Conor Gallagher, could be on their way out of the club.
Arsenal keen on signing Chelsea winger this summer as £47.5m star makes stance over future clear
Raheem Sterling is attracting interest from Premier League leaders Arsenal ahead of the summer transfer window, according to reports.
The 28-year-old only joined Chelsea from Manchester City last summer in a deal worth £47.5 million on a five-year contract, becoming the marquee signing of the window to begin the Todd Boehly-Clearlake Capital era.
Sterling has made 25 appearances for Chelsea this season and scored six goals, assisting three times.
He has only recently returned from a hamstring injury sustained in January and started during Chelsea’s 2-0 defeat at Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday afternoon in the Premier League.
It’s set to be another busy transfer window this summer for Chelsea, who have spent in excess of £600 million in the previous two markets.
An overhaul of the squad is expected and many players’ futures are uncertain at Stamford Bridge.
Arsenal, who are leading the race to win the Premier League this season, are aiming to strengthen their squad this summer and are now eyeing the England international, according to 90min.
It’s claimed boss Mikel Arteta is looking to bolster his squad by acquiring players with European experience and Sterling has emerged as a potential target.
Arteta, who worked with Sterling at Man City, is a ‘huge fan’ of Sterling and would be interested in making a move to try to sign him if he became available.
However, Sterling isn’t believed to be looking to leave Chelsea after just one season at the club, nor are the Blues considering letting him depart.
Chelsea have acquired a whole host of attackers, including Joao Felix (loan), Mykhailo Mudryk and Noni Madueke to compliment their options of both recognised wide men of Christian Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech in attack.
Callum Hudson-Odoi is also due to return to Chelsea this summer once his Bayer Leverkusen loan deal expires, while Christopher Nkunku is set to join from RB Leipzig.
After Chelsea allowed Jorginho to join Arsenal on deadline day last month, it’s unlikely they will be willing to strengthen a league and London rival with a high quality player like Sterling who is entering the prime years of his career.
