A metallic orb observed on camera hovering over the Iraqi city of Mosul is reportedly being investigated by the US military and intelligence services.
The image was shown on Tuesday’s premiere episode of the new podcast “Weaponized” by UFO researcher Jeremy Kenyon Lockyer Corbell and journalist George Knapp. It is a still from a four-second video clip that was captured on April 16, 2016, in northern Iraq by a reconnaissance aircraft.
The object, which Corbell calls the “Mosul orb,” was captured on camera by both a military organization and an intelligence agency. It received its name from the Iraqi city where it was initially discovered.
In the video, the metallic-colored sphere appeared to follow the spy plane without dropping its height, according to Corbell.
The “Weaponized” podcasters, documentary filmmaker Jeremy Kenyon Lockyer Corbell, and investigative journalist George Knapp obtained the image.
Jeremy Kenyon Lockyer Corbell is a documentary filmmaker and UFO expert.
This is classified as a UFO by the members of our intelligence community. This is an example of a UFO being investigated by our military and intelligence establishment. It’s only one of the many images,” Corbell said.
The Department of Defense did not react right away to a request for comment regarding the veracity of the picture that “Weaponized” had posted.
An investigation into hundreds of reports of unidentified flying objects over several months was conducted by the Pentagon’s All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office, or AARO, according to a paper published earlier this month.
According to the podcasters, the picture is a part of the Pentagon’s continuing inquiry into hundreds of “unidentified aerial phenomena,” or UAP.
366 UFO sightings reported by the military were investigated by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence. 163 were “balloon or balloon-like devices,” 26 were found to be drones, and six were “attributed to debris” in the air.
Investigations into the other 171 reports that were deemed “unremarkable” but “demonstrated strange flight characteristics or performance capabilities” will continue.
According to prior statements made by AARO director Sean Kirkpatrick, his office has received “many hundreds” of reports.
Although it has not been possible to prove the existence of extraterrestrial life, the Pentagon is actively investigating claims of UAPs.
