Mohamed Salah eyeing record-equalling goal on landmark appearance

Mohamed Salah is set to make his 200th Premier League appearance for Liverpool against Wolverhampton Wanderers this afternoon.

Should the forward find the back of the net, he would also equal a club record on his landmark outing for the Reds.

Salah would match Gordon Hodgson’s 126 strikes, which is the most scored by any player in Anfield history in that amount of league games.

He would also become Liverpool’s leading scorer away from home in the Premier League era. He is currently on 55, alongside Michael Owen.

Liverpool and Wolves face each other for the third time in 29 days. The Reds won the last fixture 1-0, which came in a third-round Emirates FA Cup replay.

The Reds have won each of the last 11 league games between the teams – a run that dates back to January 2011. In that sequence they have scored 24 goals, while conceding three and keeping eight clean sheets.

Jürgen Klopp’s outfit have completed a Premier League double over their counterparts in each of the last five seasons.

In the Premier League, Liverpool have won 13 and drawn two of the 16 encounters, with a single defeat.

It's just not right' - Jurgen Klopp hits back at claims Mohamed Salah has downed tools after signing lucrative new Liverpool contract last summer

A victory will see Liverpool equal their club record of 12 successive league wins against the same opponent – a feat previously achieved against West Bromwich Albion (1985-2012).

The Reds have won the last six away league visits to Wolves – only away to West Brom (eight), Norwich City (eight) and Crystal Palace (seven) have they ever recorded more victories in succession on the road in the league.

Fabinho could make a 200th appearance for Liverpool across all competitions, while James Milner could make a 200th start of his own Anfield career.
