This dog saved a teenagers life 
Sako, a King Shepherd from Kanaka Bar, British Columbia grew up in a closely-knit community where he was constantly around people.
The dog is especially close to Joseph Phillips-Garcia, one of his family members who liked to encourage him to go the extra mile to protect his loved ones’ lives.
Sako joined the Purina Animal Hall of Fame, recognised for his efforts to protect Joseph Phillips-Garcia. The Toronto event honored Canadian domestic animals whose actions have saved human lives.

It was back in June 2014 when Joseph was out with his family, and Sako, for a day of potato picking and fishing.
Their car skidded off the road and down a steep hill into the forest when they were on their way back home.
Sake and Joseph were the only survivors of the crash, and they were thrown from the vehicle.
Joseph, then aged 16, could barely move when we awoke from blacking out.
“I tried moving in any possible way I could. I felt my head and I looked down at my hand, and it was just filled with blood,” Joseph recalled.
He said that a bone was sticking out of his leg, and it was later confirmed by doctors that he had broken both his collar bone and his femur.
Sako did not leave his side one, keeping close to keep him warm throughout the night.
Keeping him warm was crucial in saving his life, and it didn’t end there as the dog helped Joseph drag himself to a creek to get water, and even fought coyotes off.
“We were just falling asleep, and that’s when you hear the first couple of howls,” Joseph said. “He got up as soon as he realized their scent was coming closer and closer, and then he just went in. You could hear them just fighting and the bushes rumbling around.”
The pair stayed together until they were found 40 hours later.
Sako received a medal for his valiant actions.
