A cheeky elephant was found attempting to sᴛᴇᴀʟ food from a campsite. Photographer Willem Bakhuys Roozeboom, 45, captured the elephant trying to use his trunk to open the door of a food truck on video.
However, the car, which was left parked at a campground in Mana Pools, Zɪᴍʙᴀʙᴡᴇ, proved to be too secure for the would-be thief. The safari camp’s management claims that elephants are attracted to the aroma of fruit and will go to any lengths to get there.
Thankfully, the elephant quickly ʟᴏsᴛ interest and was later seen grazing on a lush branch. According to Mr. Roozeboom, this particular elephant regularly visits the campground and strolls around smelling automobiles, tents, chairs, and their laundry hanging on a line.
As long as you respected his personal space, didn’t make unexpected movements, and didn’t shoo him away, he would feel comfortable.
The elephant was aware of him the whole time. Mr. Roozeboom gazed at him but paid no attention to him, only his fruits and veggies, while he went about politely ignoring his personal space.
His girlfriend, Iris Breeman, secured the truck’s back door so the elephant couldn’t access it and see what else they had brought.
