LeBron James has come a long way from being a high school phenom to still being one of the top players in the NBA in his 20th season. LeBron is often regarded as the GOAT since James set a number of records throughout his time in the NBA.
But even if someone doesn’t consider LeBron James to be the GOAT, many believe when he breaks Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s all-time scoring record, they will start considering the Lakers superstar as the GOAT.
James is projected to break Kareem’s record before the end of this season, and it will truly be one of the greatest moments in the history of the NBA. Not many thought that we will be able to see a player break Kareem’s scoring record anytime soon, but James has proven them wrong.
LeBron James Shares His Thoughts On His Relationship With Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
With James edging closer to breaking Kareem’s record, he has been asked several times about his relationship with the NBA legend. A few months ago, LeBron shockingly revealed that he has no relationship with Abdul-Jabbar.
Keeping that in mind, LeBron was once again asked this question during his exclusive interview with ESPN, and this time around, he gave a somewhat satisfying answer.
“I think in a sense of just a correlation. Being high school phenoms to doing the things that we did off the floor for the betterment of our people to wearing the Lakers jersey and trying to carry on that legacy that Dr. Buss and so many great people set out for. And then being a part of this conversation with the scoring record. That’s the relationship. That’s the conversation that we will kind of always be linked.”
Hearing James’ comments, it’s clear that the two players certainly do not have a talking relationship. They are just connected to each other due to having a somewhat similar mindset about helping their people and, of course, playing for the Los Angeles Lakers. Either way, hopefully, Kareem will be present to congratulate LeBron when he breaks his scoring record.
