What a heartwarming story .
A hiking club in Mexico was recently trekking up the highest point in the country to save a stray dog who had spent almost one month stuck on top of the inactive volcano in Veracruz.
Mixed-breed dog Canelo had been stranded on Pico de Orizaba for a month after he followed a group of mountain climbers on the trail, reports Mexican newspaper Milenio.

Rather than going back down the mountain with the hikers, Canelo stayed behind and somehow managed to survive freezing temperatures.
Layo Aguilar (right) put together a team of experienced and amateur mountain climbers to rescue the dog.
The climbers took turns carrying Canelo in a backpack and made their way down Pico de Orizaba in Veracruz, Mexico.
‘I caressed him and I felt that he responded to the language of a human,’ Aguilar wrote on Facebook.
The inactive volcano Pico de Orizaba is the highest peak in Mexico.
Fatima del Angel, who works for a local animal shelter, took Canelo to a local vet so that he could be cared for and put up for adoption.
‘I never imagined how a puppy in three days loves you so much, to the point that I would not let the terrible Rocco get close to me,’ Aguilar wrote.
‘I felt ugly when I said goodbye to him, when I put him on the transporter he got sad and angry, but it is for his good and I could not and should not keep him.’
The dog made international headlines and is now likely to be flooded with adoption offers.
