La Liga champions Real Madrid are reportedly contemplating signing Manchester City playmaker Bernardo Silva, a target for Barcelona.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Bernardo Silva is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. The Portuguese playmaker is also a target for bitter rival Barcelona over a possible move in the summer transfer window. And Manchester City will demand around €80 million to part ways with him.
Bernardo Silva has been a pivotal figure for Manchester City since arriving from AS Monaco over half a decade ago. One of the best playmakers in the Premier League, the 28-year-old has also been a top performer for Portugal over the last few years.
The Portuguese international has turned out nearly 300 times thus far for Manchester City, chipping in with 50 goals and 56 assists. But Silva is admittedly ready for a new adventure. And such a situation has captured the attention of Barcelona and Real Madrid.
Barcelona considered signing Silva in the summer transfer window. But a move did not materialise as they failed to offload Frenkie de Jong. The interest in the Portuguese international remains amid uncertainties surrounding Franck Kessie and Sergio Busquets. While Silva will not be a like-for-like replacement for either player, de Jong can sit at the base of the midfield, opening up a spot for the 28-year-old.

Recent reports have suggested that Silva is keen on joining Barcelona if and when he leaves Manchester City. But the Blaugrana will have two obstacles to overcome before landing the Portuguese international. The first is his price tag, worth €80 million. And the other stumbling block will be arch-rival Real Madrid.
Unlike Barcelona, Real Madrid might not have any qualms about paying €80 million for Silva. But the Merengues are already planning a big-money move for Jude Bellingham. And it is unclear how much bandwidth Real Madrid will have for their other targets. Nonetheless, they are considering a move for the Manchester City playmaker.
It will be interesting to see if Silva leaves Manchester City in the summer transfer window. It seems Real Madrid and Barcelona will go head-to-head for the signature of the Portuguese international ahead of the 2023/24 season.
