After much speculation, Jisoo from the K-pop girl group BLACKPINK has headed into the recording studio to work on her long-awaited debut solo album.
It was confirmed by her record label YG Entertainment this week that the 28 year-old singer has followed her three bandmates in creating a solo project.
It comes after BLACKPINK released their sophomore album Born Pink in September, which sold over 2.5million copies.

YG Entertainment released a statement this week which acknowledged Jisoo’s ambition to release her own solo album.
She had already been planning for the project, but had put her solo career on the backburner to pursue her acting aspirations.
Jisoo’s hard work paid off when she was given a role in the hit K-drama Snowdrop in 2021.
Additionally, her other duties include her newly appointed ambassadorship for Cartier and her long-standing connection with Dior.
It comes after BLACKPINK released their sophomore album Born Pink in September, which sold over 2.5million copies. The group is pictured at the MTV VMAs in 2022
‘She has completed shooting the album cover and has been putting a lot of work into her music, as promised to her fans,’ a YG Entertainment spokesperson revealed.
Minimal details are still known about her passion project after Jennie became the first member of the group to release solo material when her first track ‘Solo’ topped the charts in 2018.
On the Ground from vocalist Rosé soon followed in early 2021, and then Lalisa from rapper Lisa.
