Legendary golfer Tiger Woods announced some major news Friday afternoon regarding his health.
15-time major champion Tiger Woods announced significant news regarding his health on Friday, revealing that he recently underwent surgery for nerve impingement in his lower back.
Woods, an iconic athlete and golfer, has long battled injuries throughout his career. His injury issues began in December 2002 with knee surgery and have since included numerous back, ankle, and Achilles injuries.
Despite these setbacks, Woods has consistently made his way back to the golf course. He remains optimistic about returning soon, even after a challenging 2024 season.
“The surgery went smoothly, and I’m hopeful this will help alleviate the back spasms and pain I was experiencing throughout most of the 2024 season,” Woods said. ” look forward to tackling this rehab and preparing myself to get back to normal life activities, including golf.”

Woods’ surgery, performed at the Hospital for Special Surgery in West Palm Beach, was deemed successful by Dr. Sheeraz Qureshi.
With 15 major championships, Woods is second only to Jack Nicklaus, who holds 18. Despite the challenges, Woods remains confident in his ability to compete at the highest level against today’s top players.
At 48 years old, Woods has accumulated 82 PGA Tour victories, five Masters titles, is the only player to have won all four major championships in a row, and is one of only five players to achieve a career grand slam.

His impact on golf has been profound. While he may not be the player he once was, this surgery is expected to improve his comfort and performance, particularly given the difficulties he has faced walking the course since his 2021 car accident. His return will continue to be closely monitored because he remains the biggest draw in the sport.
