Movie star The Rock is depressed because of rugby

Before becoming famous in the Hollywood movie capital, the muscular star The Rock once fell into depression because he could not pursue his passion for rugby.

The Rock (real name Dwayne Johnson) had a promising football career. But then the constant injuries ended the 48-year-old actor’s biggest dream. “All my teammates are living their dreams. And for me it was a terrible nightmare. It made me sink deep into depression, “The Rock shared on SPORTbible about the sad memory of his youth.

Dwayne Johnson was born into a family of sports traditions, both his father and grandfather were famous wrestlers. But Johnson fell in love with rugby when he was in high school. The height of 1m9 and the muscular body at the age of “breaking the buffalo horn” helps Johnson show his superiority in matches. Johnson progressed very quickly when he entered the University of Miami football team and in 1991, at the age of 19, was included in the American football team.

Johnson’s dream of becoming a rugby star, though, soon fell apart. Persistent shoulder and back injuries pushed Johnson’s playing career to a dead end. After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in criminology and physiology, Johnson was forced to play for Second Division clubs before retiring from rugby in 1995.

It was the dark period of the 23-year-old boy. Johnson even fell into a depression because of his broken dream. Johnson could not accept the fact that he could no longer pursue his greatest passion. Johnson spent a year fighting before starting wrestling in the family tradition. On the WWE arena, the American boxer became an undefeated “The Rock” with 8 championships.

Succeeding in the wrestling ring helped The Rock to be charming in television and film. The 48-year-old actor is currently a top Hollywood star and still occasionally returns to the WWE ring. Only passion for rugby is The Rock’s biggest regret.
