Ex-Chelsea man Oscar has made so much money playing out in China for the past five-and-a-half years that he could buy Juventus’ state-of-the-art Allianz Stadium.
Former Chelsea midfielder Oscar is on the verge of joining Brazilian club Flamengo – bringing his mega-lucrative five-and-a-half year stint in China to an end.
The 30-year-old has earned a Scrooge McDuck-amount of moolah out in the far-east after being handed a whopping £400,000-a-week deal by Shanghai SIPG after quitting Stamford Bridge in 2017. Including endorsements, it’s estimated the Brazilian has earned well over £100million – roughly four more times more than he likely would’ve made playing in Europe over the past five seasons.
In fact, Oscar’s bank account is now so stacked that he could buy Juventus’ ground, the 41,000-capacity state-of-the-art Allianz Stadium in Turin.

Fans rightly questioned Oscar’s decision to ditch European football for China’s millions when he was at the absolute peak of his powers at 25-years-old – especially seeing as he hasn’t featured for Brazil since leaving despite playing nearly every single game for his country between 2012 and 2015.
Oscar signed for Chelsea as a relative unknown a decade ago, but exploded into the mainstream after scoring a wondergoal against Juventus in his first start for the club. He played a major part in the Blues’ title triumph two years later under Jose Mourinho, though saw his game-time reduced significantly when Antonio Conte – who preferred solidity to silkiness in central midfield – arrived in 2016.

Shanghai came in with a blockbuster £65million bid for him the following January, and it was an offer neither Chelsea nor Oscar could refuse.
The playmaker became the most expensive player in Asian football history, as well as one of the highest-paid players on the planet, and was one of the Chinese Super League’s biggest captures during their European shopping spree of the mid-to-late 2010s.
He joined the likes of Carlos Tevez, Hulk and Ezequiel Lavezzi out there and was soon followed by Marouane Fellaini, John Obi Mikel and Marko Arnautovic, among others.
With his contract set to expire in a matter of months, Oscar looks set to return to his homeland for the past time since 2012, with negotiations with Flamengo close to being finalised, according to Italian transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.
