Hello friends, enemies, and everything in between. Welcome back to the Wild World of Fighting, a series that, in my opinion, which we respect very much, has the best looking audience around.
This week we dive into the world of Daniel Cormier’s snack supply, the long lost Beatle, and more. So hit the saunas and prepare to make weight for the Wild World of Fighting.
Daniel Cormier Has Snacks On Deck
Some may feel bad for light heavyweight and heavyweight champion turned commentator, Daniel Cormier. He has been the target of jokes and mocking after getting caught eating snacks during broadcasts and crushing chicken tenders at basketball games.
He isn’t going to find any sympathy in the Wild World of Fighting though, as we’ve shown a handful of times. The most recent example of DC’s peckish ways was seen during the UFC Vegas 72, when one eagle eyed viewer was able to scope out the bevy of snacks the champ-champ had at his broadcast station.
All kidding aside, if anyone has earned the right to enjoy snacking in their retirement, it is definitely Cormier. After all, I certainly am not able to make it through a UFC broadcast without eating, so who are we to judge?
Eddie Alvarez’s Biggest Fan
Most fighters need the support of their loved ones in attendance for their bouts, in order to feel confident and relatively comfortable ahead of unarmed combat. Former UFC, Bellator, and Bodog champion Eddie Alvarez is certainly no different.
The Underground King made his bare knuckle boxing debut at BKFC 41, where he would end up winning a close decision against Chad Mendes. However, Alvarez’s wife was in attendance, where she could be heard screaming her husband’s name at the top of her lungs, easily being heard clearly through the crowd.
Anyone who has ever watched an Eddie Alvarez fight closely will be able to tell you that it is not a rare occurrence to hear his wife in the crowd. Honestly, we could all probably use a support system like that.
They Literally Beat His Ass
We at the Wild World of Fighting have always made it clear that, no matter how entertaining they may be to watch at times, it is always a best practice to avoid street fights whenever possible. The reason for this comes down to how unpredictable they can become, no matter how much training you have.
That said, not every example of the unpredictable nature of street fights is made equal. Take, for example, this video that was making the rounds online, in which one poor soul was getting smacked around by a small group of people, when someone pulled his pants down to hit him in his bare cheek.
This is definitely not a technique you would see Rener Gracie teaching but whatever works, as they say. Clearly that person felt like whatever the guy did was deserving of something slightly more serious than a spanking.
Kevin Hart is Playing Conor McGregor?
Over the years, there have been plenty of A-List actors who have accepted roles where they play famous fighters from the real world. There was even a point recently, in which the somewhat controversial Mike Tyson biopic was expected to feature Jamie Foxx as the former champ.
Unfortunately, like any movie role, appropriate casting is crucial for success, and the new Conor McGregor Netflix movie may suffer the consequences of poor casting choices. According to a tweet from the former champ himself, stand-up comedian Kevin Hart is set to play the part of the Irishman.
Obviously, this is not a real movie and the poster is a dubiously created piece of fanart. Although, I can see the resemblance between Kevin Hart and Conor McGregor.
Zhalgas Zhumagulov Wanted Paddy Pimblett Treatment
It has been a rough road for UFC flyweight Zhalgas Zhumagulov lately, who was looking to bounce back this weekend, after suffering two straight split decision losses. While his UFC 288 bout with Rafael Estevam was scratched the day before due to weight issues on the part of Estevam, there is no denying that Zhumagulov was fully prepared for the bout.
Fight week saw the 34-year old husband to two wives unveil a new hairstyle, looking hilariously like the long lost Kazakhstani member of the Beatles. Make no mistake though, the move was actually to copy Paddy Pimblett, in the hopes that he will see the same type of luck from the judges that the Scouser received in his last contest.’
Sadly, we will have to wait longer to see if this new haircut makes the difference for Zhalgas Zhumagulov. If I had to guess though, Rafael Estevam was probably fully aware that he faced no chance of winning a decision against that hair, and withdrew accordingly.
That marks the end of the Wild World of Fighting. Make your way to these parts next week for more combat sports shenanigans.
