In this heartwarming video, a baby elephant throws a tantrum as its herd crosses a dirt track on the African savanna. The young pachyderm is determined to get attention from the adults, but its mother and father remain focused on the journey ahead.
The adults continue walking without pause, seemingly unfazed by the baby’s antics. However, according to Daphne Sheldrick of the Sheldrick Animal Trust, temper tantrums are not uncommon among elephants.
Despite the baby’s efforts, the adults continue on their journey. In fact, many of the adults cross the dirt track without stopping, causing the baby to race after them in an attempt to keep up.
Elephants have many traits in common with humans, including a strong sense of family and emotions. Each elephant is a unique individual with its own personality, capable of experiencing a range of emotions from happiness to jealousy.
Despite their similarities to humans, elephants can also display some of our failings, such as being fiercely competitive and throwing tantrums. In this video, we see a heartwarming example of parenting as the adults remain calm and focused on their journey, while the baby elephant learns to adapt and follow along.
