Real Madrid lost an important position after a series of bad matches in the hands of “rivals”

French star Griezmann scored a brace to help Atletico beat Cadiz 5-1, thereby taking Real Madrid’s second place after round 33 of La Liga.

Playing at the Metropolitan Stadium, Atletico soon overwhelmed Cadiz and after only 2 minutes of rolling the ball, the home team had an opening goal of 1-0. From Carrasco’s cross, Griezmann launched a dangerous connecting shot that sent the ball into the top corner of Cadiz’s goal.

Cadiz tried to push up the squad, but while not concretizing their attacks, they received the second goal. In the 27th minute, Griezmann made a shot to the middle of the goal to beat goalkeeper Ledesma, making it 2-0.

Leading 2-0 after the first 45 minutes, Atletico leisurely played in the second half. The home team did not face too many difficulties before Cadiz’s stalemate, when Atletico held the ball to more than 60% and launched 14 shots.

In the second half, Atletico had 3 more goals thanks to Morata, Carrasco and Molina. Cadiz also got an honorable goal to close the match with the final score 5-1 in favor of coach Simeone’s army.

With 3 points won, Atletico rose to second place after round 33 of La Liga with 69 points, 13 points behind leaders Barcelona and one point above third team Real Madrid.
