The Met Gala is always a dizzying display of looks, and last night’s Karl Lagerfeld-themed red carpet was no exception. If you weren’t distracted by Jared Leto dressed as Choupette, or Doja Cat dressed as Choupette, or Lil Nas X dressed as a (bedazzled!) Choupette, then you probably were looking at the gorgeous gowns, incredible hair and makeup moments, or a pantsless Kendall Jenner. It’s easy for nail art to get lost amidst all the glitz and glamour, but celebrities truly served enough nail inspiration to last until the next first Monday in May. Ahead, 13 nail art moments you might have missed from the 2023 Met Gala, including Rihanna’s flower nails and Jennifer Lopez’s take on the Chanel logo nail.

Artist Zola Ganzorigt worked with Sydney Sweeney and OPI on her Met Gala nails.
“We wanted to mimic Sydney’s beautiful embellished Miu Miu gown on her nails by creating a crystal ombre look. For the base nude color, we opted for something sheer and skin-like. I used my ultimate favorite combo Bubble Bath, topped with Bare My Soul to create the chic and classic look,” she writes on Instagram. “To make it even more glamorous, we added crystals. The look perfectly tied into the Met theme of timeless fashion.”
Ashley Park
“The nails were inspired by this biker chic element, using Licorice by Manicurist and incorporating grommets throughout,” Yasuda says of Ashley Park’s look.
Serena Williams
Manicurist Serynin Peng, who worked with Aprés Nail, says Serena Williams wanted a “modern tuxedo nail look.”
Suki Waterhouse
Manicurist Emi Kudo worked with Aprés Nail for Suki Waterhouse. They applied vintage butterfly nail stickers on a nude base.
