Brentford defender Ben Mee has revealed Erling Haaland’s tricks when dealing with opposing players.
Haaland shone brightly in his first season at Man City when he scored 32 goals in 28 Premier League appearances. The Norwegian is only two goals short of Alan Shearer and Andy Cole’s single-season goalscoring record.
Importantly, Haaland’s brilliant form helps Man City get close to Arsenal in the race to win the Premier League this season. Currently, the “green” Man is 4 points behind the opponent but played less than one match. The two teams still have a direct confrontation on April 27.
Many people consider Haaland to be successful thanks to its incredible strength and speed. However, defender Ben Mee of Brentford also revealed the mischievousness of the Norwegian striker. Sharing on Sky Sports, Ben Mee said: “To be fair, Haaland played quite a trick. But I don’t mind that. On the contrary, I still enjoy it.
Haaland is a strong guy. We had collisions on the pitch. The pinchings appear often between me and him. We had a physical battle. I try to stop Haaland in any position.”
In fact, Haaland “turned off” when facing Ben Mee in the match last November. Even the Man City striker had to receive a yellow card in the 37th minute. The two teams will have a rematch in the final match of this season.
Ahead of Man City will be the second leg of the Champions League quarter-final against Bayern Munich on Wednesday night. The Citizens will then face Sheffield United in the FA Cup semi-finals at the weekend. On April 27, Man City faced Arsenal in the decisive battle of the season.
Coach Pep Guardiola emphasized it was the final of the season. The City manager said: “It’s a final of the season. If you lose a head-to-head match against Arsenal, it’s over. They’ve come an incredible way. I don’t think that’s it. Arsenal dropped many points so we will do everything to keep chasing Arsenal, before that fateful battle.”
