Perry was recently the subject of controversy regarding her treatment of former contestant Sara Beth Liebe, who appeared on the program’s ongoing 21st season.
The singer, who was a target of commentary about her status as a young mother, eventually dropped out of the program.

The Dark Horse singer spoke about working on the program during an interview with Billboard, where she expressed that contestants did not necessarily have to win the program to reap its benefits.
‘I think, really, this show is about mentorship and momentum…if you can place high – in the top 10, in the top 20 – just hustle your way and launch off of this,’ she said.
Perry went on to state that contestants on the program should not expect their careers to be as straightforward as their time on the show.
‘no one’s getting out of it besides one person, so get used to the Band-Aid getting ripped off. And truly, honestly, that’s the real world,’ she said.
