Chelsea fans demand to sell ‘worst signing’ Kepa Arrizabalaga after nightmare in Real Madrid defeat.
Chelsea were beaten 2-0 by Real Madrid in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final. But fans think that the score difference would have been smaller if not for Kepa Arrizabalaga’s mistake.
In the opening goal, Kepa failed to save Vinicius’s shot well. The ball reached Benzema’s feet and the striker comfortably shot into an empty goal. In the second goal, Marco Asensio hit the post and went into the net when Kepa fell a bit slowly.
Of course, Kepa was not exactly at fault in both of these goals. But for Chelsea fans, he needs to do better.
“How can we still let Kepa be the number one goalkeeper, when he keeps conceding so easily every week. He’s been here for five years and we still haven’t solved this. ?”, one Chelsea fan tweeted.
Another raged: “Kepa is the worst goalkeeper in our club’s history, selling him for £5m and hoping his fanboys will leave with him”.
Meanwhile, a third commented: “I don’t understand why there are still so many people defending Kepa. Chelsea definitely need a new goalkeeper.”
Kepa is not the only “criminal” in the eyes of Chelsea fans. Countryman Marc Cucurella suffered the same fate after making a mistake that led to Chilwell’s red card.
One fan tweeted: “I don’t think people realize how great it is for Chelsea to have Kepa and Cucurella on the same team. Both are contenders to be the worst signings in history. Premier League history and they are teammates.”
