A preview of Marvel’s Planet Hulk: Worldbreaker #3 sees the return of Korg.
Planet Hulk: Worldbreaker #3 comes from writer Greg Pak, penciler Manuel Garcia, inker Cam Smith, colorist Chris Sotomayor and letterer VC’s Joe Caramagna. Set one millennium after the events of the original “Planet Hulk” storyline, the preview sees Amadeus Cho team with another green-skinned woman on Sakaar to try and save Jennifer Walters/She-Hulk, who was revealed to be powering the planet’s sky city in the previous issue. When one of Grand Priestess Venkiera’s weapons attacks, the two hulks are saved by an unexpected source: Korg.
Who Is Korg?Created by Stan Lee, Larry Lieber and Jack Kirby, Korg first appeared in 1962’s Journey Into Mystery #83. After meeting Thor during a failed invasion of Earth, Korg later crash-landed on Sakaar and became enslaved and forced to fight in gladiator battles by the Red King. Korg became friends with Bruce Banner/Hulk shortly after he, too, became enslaved on Sakaar. After being freed by the Silver Surfer, Hulk and Korg helped lead an army to overthrow the Red King’s tyrannical rule. In the MCU, Korg is played by Taika Waititi and has appeared in Thor: Ragnarok, Avengers: Endgame, an episode of What If…? and Thor: Love and Thunder.

Pak previously touched on returning to the world of Skaar for Planet Hulk: Worldbreaker, a five-issue limited series that officially launched in Nov. 2022 and will conclude in March 2023. “Working on Planet Hulk remains one of the greatest experiences I’ve ever had in storytelling,” he said. “So it was a huge thrill to get the call from editor Mark Paniccia inviting me to dive back in. What makes this story feel so special is that we’re going back to Sakaar a thousand years in the future. That’s opened up doors to do some spectacular worldbuilding with mindblowing art from Manuel Garcia, Cam Smith, and Chris Sotomayor. And we’re exploring big emotional stories that pay off the huge themes of the Hulk and the Green Scar that I’ve built over many years through all my Hulk stories. In a time of change and crisis, what do we do with the power we have, and how do we handle the terrifying repercussions? A thousand years from now, who knows where those questions will take us?”
Planet Hulk: Worldbreaker #3 features cover art by Carlo Pagulayan, Jason Paz and Sotomayor and variant cover art by Ed McGuinness, Laura Martin, Nick Bradshaw and Jim Charalampidis. The issue is on sale now from DC.
