The secret of Enzo Fernandez’s personalized necklace as he arrives at Chelsea’s game

The 22-year-old midfielder has added a touch of class to Chelsea’s midfield since arriving for a record British transfer fee of £107million in January. Part of the reason why the Blues had to splash such a heavy sum was his role in guiding Argentina to a World Cup triumph in December.

Fernandez became a household name for his impressive performances in Qatar. And he appears to be in no hurry to forget the tournament which ended a 36-year drought for the football-mad nation.

The official Chelsea social media account shared a picture of the Argentine arriving at Stamford Bridge ahead of the Toffees clash. Eagle-eyed fans quickly noticed Fernandez wearing what appeared to be a gold chain.

But a closer look showed the pendant to be a replica of the iconic World Cup trophy, along with a ball attached to it.

One Twitter user wrote: “I love that necklace and may he use it as motivation to get better and better everyday.”

Another Chelsea fan gushed: “We have a world cup winning player.”

A third commented: “That’s why he’s the best midfielder in the world,” while a fourth added: “This is cold.”

Fernandez played all seven of Argentina’s World Cup matches in Qatar, starting the crucial final five games. His sole goal of the tournament, an 87th minute wonder-strike against Mexico, came in a game which is widely considered to be the moment where Argentina’s fortunes changed.

The central-midfielder was also able to pick up the World Cup’s Best Young Player award, while teammates Lionel Messi and Emi Martinez were awarded the Golden Ball and Golden Glove respectively.
