Could Keanu Reeves and Winona Ryder actually be married? According to Ryder, the answer is yes! Maybe! While doing press for the pair’s latest film, Destination Wedding, Ryder reminisced on their past work together, and, oh, what’s that? They were actually wed while filming 1992’s Dracula? What a fun, interesting, and well-timed anecdote!
“I swear to God, I think we’re married in real life,” Ryder told Entertainment Tonight, adding that “a real Romanian priest” presided over the film’s wedding scene. “We shot the master and he did the whole thing. So I think we’re married.”
Apparently it hasn’t been wedded bliss for the couple, however, as Reeves doesn’t exactly remember the nuptials asking Ryder, “We said yes?”
“Don’t you remember that?” Ryder asked. “It was on Valentine’s Day.”
Reeves eventually conceded: “Oh my gosh, we’re married.”
This bit of news may come as a bummer to 2016 Ryder, who told The Edit that she’s not a huge fan of marriage.
“I’d rather never have been married than been divorced a few times,” she said. “Not that there’s anything wrong with divorce, but I don’t think I could do it if that was a possibility. When your parents are madly in love for 45 years, your standards are really high. But I’ve been happily with someone for quite a while now.”
Ryder has been in a relationship with fashion designer Scott Mackinlay Hahn since 2011. Hopefully he’s O.K. with her having also been married to Keanu Reeves for over 25 years.
