This 1977 Harley-Davidson XLCR was acquired in 2018 by one of the co-founders of Throttlestop Museum in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, where it was displayed through January 2023. The bike is finished in black and powered by a 998cc Ironhead V-twin mated to a four-speed gearbox. Equipment includes a quarter fairing, a molded tail section, a solo seat, street lighting, an electric starter, a flat handlebar, rear-set foot controls, triple disc brakes, siamese exhaust pipes, cast-alloy wheels, and a side stand. This XLCR is now offered on dealer consignment with a clean Wisconsin title.
Harley-Davidson produced the cafe racer-inspired XLCR from 1977 to 1979, and all of the approximately 3k examples are finished in gloss black over a black frame. Features include an angular four-gallon fuel tank, a quarter fairing, a molded tail section, a black vinyl solo seat, a smoked windscreen, street lighting, rear-set foot controls, a side stand, and both Harley-Davidson and AMF badging.
Morris cast-alloy wheels measuring 19″ up front and 18″ at the rear are wrapped in Goodyear Eagle A/T tires that are not known to have been replaced. Braking is managed by three 10″ Kelsey-Hayes discs. Suspension is provided by a Sportster telescopic fork as well as a pair of polished Showa shocks mounted to a box-section swingarm.
A flat chrome handlebar equipped with matte-black mirrors is clamped aft of a Harley-Davidson-branded 150-mph speedometer and a matching 8k-rpm tachometer. Warning and turn-signal lamps are located in the fairing above. The five-digit odometer shows 137 miles, four of which were ridden under current ownership.
The 998cc Ironhead V-Twin features a crinkle-black finish and an electric starter, and it breathes through a single 38mm Keihin carburetor and a matte-black two-into-two exhaust system with siamese headers.
Power is sent to the rear wheel through a multi-disc wet clutch, a four-speed transmission, and a drive chain.
The number 7F01676H7 stamped on the right-side engine case matches the number stamped on the steering neck, a photo of which can be viewed in the gallery.
