Constantly exposed to the spotlight, Tom Cruise has led an extraordinary lifestyle for the past 4 decades. The star power that he holds has become so manifold in magnitude that every project that he deems worthy of picking up becomes bound to be a success at the box office. Ranging from horror thrillers to mind-bending psychological dramas to high-octane action franchises, he has carried it all to the upper strata of undeniable critical hits. But as much success as Cruise has achieved in the movie-making business, the same hasn’t been the case for the romantic aspect of his life, and his highly elusive relationship with his children away from the spotlight.

Tom Cruise’s Behavior Affects Katie Holmes’ Career
One of the most talked-about, viewed, and instantly recognized moments from the modern celebrity culture is Tom Cruise’s couch-jumping confession of love for Katie Holmes in The Oprah Winfrey Show. What was once regarded as his great love then quickly became a subject of contentious public debate. Their relationship began to be called a PR arrangement set up by the Church of Scientology to bettering Cruise’s public image. Holmes’ reserved lifestyle, even after the pair split, was hounded as the doings of the Church, and by extension, Cruise.
But beyond rumors, allegations, gossip, and online theories, the couple built a loving home that was fulfilling in its potential and every bit worthy of being viewed as such. When it came to their careers, on the other hand, the little dramas that extended from the home to the movie sets did catch some attention and a lot of flak. One of those includes Cruise lending his private jet to his then-spouse to fly into the sets of Batman Begins. As can be imagined, not everyone was a fan of the show of pomp and power that came with it.

Rumors also persisted about Tom Cruise taking control of the promotional content of Holmes’ film, Thank You For Smoking, for having compromising scenes in it. This was later debunked by the film’s director, Jason Reitman. Holmes’ Batman drama, however, hit the hardest, especially when a source reported that A-lister and veteran actor, Morgan Freeman himself was “disgusted” by the unfolding situation. TMZ further reported that “Tom also imposed his will during ‘Batman Begins’ […] prohibiting Katie from flying with the rest of the cast. Instead, Katie would only travel on Tom’s private jet.” The reports were, of course, a little colored beyond the lines to make the matter seem more scandalous than it actually was.

As harmless as loaning out one’s private jet for use by their spouse may sound in the given context, the media at the time was quick to reach conclusions about Cruise trying to control his wife. Katie Holmes, who had announced pulling out of Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight franchise after the first film, further fueled the rumors. Holmes had already announced scheduling conflicts as the reason behind her withdrawal, but that wasn’t a satisfying enough end to the discussion for the public and the media.

Even beyond Tom Cruise’s split from Katie Holmes, his estranged relationship with daughter Suri has given much cause for speculation in recent years. Katie Holmes’ incredibly sensational yet private relationship with actor Jamie Foxx was also viewed through the lens of suspicion of interference from Cruise and the Church. Although the reports were mere rumors and gossip to get the public’s attention, the stars have never addressed or referred to the media outlets’ accusations and allegations, making the reports what they were: incredible and unreliable at the core.
