Tony Todd, who portrays Venom in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, seemingly confirms that the anticipated PS5 title will launch in September 2023.
Candyman alum Tony Todd, who portrays Venom in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, appears to have confirmed that the anticipated Insomniac Games title will launch for the PlayStation 5 this September.
Late last year, the official PlayStation blog confirmed that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was targeting a fall 2023 launch. Thanks to Todd, however, fans now seem to have an even more specific release window. “Looks like September!” the acclaimed actor wrote on Twitter while responding to a fan. “Massive publicity coming in [A]ugust. Commercials start dropping in [A]ugust so I’m told. Hold on to your … and hold breath! Gonna be necessary.”

Developed by Insomniac Games, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is expected to launch exclusively for the PS5. The game serves as a direct follow-up to Insomniac’s 2018 title Marvel’s Spider-Man and its 2020 spinoff, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Marvel’s Spider-Man originally launched exclusively for the PlayStation 4 in September 2018. A remastered version of the game later made its way to the PS5 in 2020 and the PC in 2022. Miles Morales, meanwhile, launched for the PS4 and PS5 simultaneously in November 2020 before similarly making its way to PC in 2022.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Stars Two Spider-Men
Marvel’s Spider-Man allows players to step into the shoes of the original Spider-Man, Peter Parker, for an open-world adventure in the Big Apple. Miles Morales, as its title implies, shifts the focus to Miles, Peter’s protégé and fellow Spider-Man. The spinoff game centers on Miles’ journey to become a hero in his own right when he is left in charge of protecting New York by himself. The upcoming Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will feature both Peter and Miles as its playable protagonists. Venom and Kraven the Hunter are expected to serve as the main villains of the sequel.

In addition to Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Insomniac is also developing Marvel’s Wolverine, which centers on the eponymous mutant anti-hero and takes place in the same universe as the Spider-Man games. Like Spider-Man 2, Marvel’s Wolverine is expected to launch as a PS5 exclusive. At this time, however, no specific release window has been locked down. Reports suggest that Marvel’s Wolverine could launch anytime from late 2023 to sometime in 2025.
Developed by Insomniac Games and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is slated to release in fall 2023 for the PlayStation 5.
