Erling Haaland said his biggest priority in every game is not to score but to find opportunities.
“My focus is not on scoring. Of course, as a striker, I love to score but I am more focused on finding and taking advantage of opportunities. If there is a chance, I will score.” Haaland shared after the 6-0 win over Burnley in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup at dawn on March 19 (Hanoi time).
In this match, Haaland scored a hat-trick. In the 7-0 win over RB Leipzig in the Champions League on March 15, the Norwegian striker made a repoker. Within 4 days, he scored 8 goals. That’s an impressive performance.
“It’s quality games with important meaning. The 7-0, 6-0 wins against the international series are impressive. I’m really happy. Every goal scored for the club means something. “We just had a great win against Burnley, a strong club. I’m very happy and Man City will look forward to the next game at Wembley,” Haaland said.
This season, Haaland has reached 42 goals in all competitions. The Norwegian striker is only two goals behind the record for most goals in a single season of English football, held by Mohamed Salah and Ruud van Nistelrooy (44 goals).
Haaland will almost certainly break this record with plenty of games remaining for the remainder of the season. The Premier League has 10 more rounds to go and Man City has also reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League and the semi-finals of the FA Cup.
Coach Pep Guardiola praised the student: “I know Haaland will not care about records. He is very positive, optimistic and never complains. Haaland is always looking forward and constantly improving. The positive mentality makes Haaland an incredible player.”
