It wasn’t just a generous move, but Dwayne Johnson (50) made it as an act of redemption.
The Oahu, Hawaiian man explained, 36 years ago – when he was 14 – he used to go to that same 7-Eleven every day and steal a large Snickers candy on his way to the gym because he couldn’t enough money to buy. “I used to run out of money,” he explains in his Instagram post about his pre-workout snack, recalling that “a clerk there always turned around and never caught me taking candy”.
Months later, Johnson and his family left for Hawaii. When he became a professional wrestler, he began a successful acting career in the following years. This act of theft always weighed heavily on his mind.
That’s what prompted Johnson to go to the convenience store. “Had to ‘correct’ when returning home to Hawaii after all these years,” the actor wrote in the Instagram post .

Footage of Johnson’s quest for forgiveness shows the star clearing all the Snickers candy bars on the store’s shelves and taking them to the register to pay.
He also generously paid other people waiting to pay and took selfies with 7-Eleven shoppers.
“Thanks a lot. I appreciate you,” Johnson told the clerk. “If someone looks like they’re stealing Snickers, give them these so they don’t steal them.”
“We can’t change the past and some of the silly things we may have done, but we should atone for it when we can and give strangers a big smile every now and then. I finally got rid of this damn ‘chocolate demon’ that gnawed at me for decades,” the actor said.
Of course, Johnsons fans know that he is well known for his good deeds, including supporting children with cancer and helping students with disabilities, among many other philanthropic activities. Last summer, he even bought his mother a house.
“When I was a little boy, I hated it the most when my mother cried. These days, I will be happy to take away my mother’s tears. I always say, if you have a good mother then you have a chance to be a good human being,” Dwayne Johnson said in June 2022 in a touching social media post.
