Erik ten Hag has hinted Jadon Sancho could be utilised as a number 10 more often by Manchester United.
Sancho came back from a lengthy spell on the sidelines recently and has found himself playing in a variety of different positions since his return.
In the 0-0 draw with Southampton, the former Borussia Dortmund man found himself deployed in the number 10 role and, speaking to the press, Ten Hag admitted he was impressed by Sancho’s performance in that position.
He said: ”I think he did quite well as a number 10. Like he did against Barcelona and Leicester. He was really decisive against Leicester and also today with some really good actions.
“One time, he was really close to the goal with a run at the defending line and a cross to Bruno almost came there. He did a good job.
“I think he can [be a game changer], I think he can make the difference when we play three against two in the midfield. And that is not bad when you have Casemiro and Bruno and you have Jadon Sancho.”
Sancho could be set to play in a more central role when Manchester United face off against Real Betis in the second leg of their Europa League round of 16 tie on Thursday evening.
