Paris Saint-Germain’s recent exit from the UEFA Champions League at the hands of Bayern Munich has once again sparked speculations over Kylian Mbappe’s future at the club, with many believing that the forward may push for an exit.
PSG have reportedly handed Mbappe an ultimatum to make a definitive decision on his future, especially amid interest from Real Madrid.
A report from Diario AS, as relayed by Goal, now states that Real Madrid are considering relaunching their attempts to sign Mbappe. The club are harbouring the dream of signing the player on a free transfer in 2024, when his current contract at PSG comes to an end.
Although the Spanish giants had a hard time getting hold of Mbappe last summer, as the forward rejected a move to Santiago Bernabeu at the last minute, the club have not lost sight of the Frenchman just yet.
Despite the marred relationship between Mbappe and Real Madrid fans, the club remain interested in attaining his services. In fact, the Frenchman is rated higher than Erling Haaland by the Real Madrid hierarchy, particularly due to his commercial appeal.
The Spanish champions are confident that Mbappe can help them recoup the investment through his commercial value and ability to attract top brands across the globe. It was a similar strategy that proved fruitful for both PSG and Manchester United when they signed Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo respectively.
Recent reports even suggest that Real Madrid would be open to sacrificing Vinicius Junior in order to sign Mbappe. This comes after reports that many players within the Real Madrid camp are annoyed by Vinicius’ on-field antics. Not to mention, the club have had a hard time reaching an agreement with the Brazilian international over a contract extension.
However, signing Mbappe on a free transfer could be tricky and PSG will try everything they can to prevent the Frenchman from seeing out his contract at Parc des Princes. One of the solutions could be his sale in the coming summer, with several other European giants also keen on his services.

Paris Saint-Germain’s recent elimination from the UEFA Champions League has restarted the topic of Kylian Mbappe’s future. The French club’s repeated failures at the European level have reopened the possibility of him moving in the summer.
Unsurprisingly, Real Madrid are the first to be dragged into the topic given their long history chasing the Frenchman.
According to reports from MARCA, Los Blancos are bored and indifferent to Mbappe’s availability on the transfer market. The young phenom’s decision to reject the club after virtually sealing the deal in previous windows renders them mere spectators this time around.
The Madrid administration will continue to monitor Mbappe’s situation, however, will not go out of the way in trying to recruit him. Any attempt to join forces would have to come from the player’s end.
There is a realisation at Real Madrid that Paris-Saint Germain will not make the World Cup winner’s move to a direct rival easy. Given that the Merengues no longer see the need for a winger to be a priority, splashing money for Mbappe is seen as futile.
Mbappe has been one of the best players in Christophe Galtier’s side this season, scoring nineteen goals and providing three assists in just 23 league games so far. Most recently, he scored a 90th-minute winner to see his side past Stade Brestois.
The Merengues seem determined to splash their money on the midfield come June with Jude Bellingham being the top target. The wing, as it appears, is very far down on the list.
Vinicius Jr, Federico Valverde, Rodrygo Goes and Marco Asensio provide Ancelotti with sufficient depth in the department. Yet, Real Madrid has always been the club for the best players in the world, and Mbappe fits well into that bracket. Only time will tell what lies in store for the PSG superstar.
