Micah Richards thinks Manchester United are like playing with 10 men against Liverpool because Antony doesn’t do his job on the right wing.
Micah Richards thinks Antony did almost nothing to protect Diogo Dalot from the constant threat of Liverpool players.
“There is no communication between Dalot and Antony. It’s like they’re playing with 10 people because Antony doesn’t do his job in that wing.
We all know how good Robertson and Alexander-Arnold are at full-back. So I think Antony should at least try to follow Robertson. He never chased Robertson and always kept a distance of 8 meters. It’s like an invitation to a Liverpool player.
Antony needed to go back to the defense but he didn’t. I was quite confused, whether he was lazy or the coach told him to stay in the upper position to be ready to counterattack. Either way, this happens often in the game.
Whenever Man United lose the ball, Antony just walks. We’re talking about one of Man United’s biggest games. And when they got the ball back, there was no chance for Antony to run behind the Liverpool defense because he was already four yards offside.”
Despite the disappointing performance, Antony played the full 90 minutes on the Man United side. Coach Ten Hag had Jadon Sancho on the bench but decided not to use the English player.
Antony is going through a relatively up and down season at Man United. He played relatively erratic but exploded in time with the goal to defeat Barca in the Europa League. Because of that, the criticism towards Antony is still somewhat limited, and is likely to appear more if this player does not perform well in the next season.
