On March 2, a family-owned supermarket was attacked by two strangers with guns, but fortunately there were no casualties.
TycSports recently published the first image related to the shooting at a supermarket owned by Messi’s family in his hometown of Rosario, Argentina. Earlier on March 2, two strangers moved to the scene, fired 14 bullets and destroyed many items. Police said there were no casualties in the recent incident.
The attackers also left a note with the words threatening Messi: “We are waiting for you, Messi. Javkin (the mayor of Rosario) can’t protect you either.”
Prosecutor Federico Rebola said authorities were investigating the incident and insisted “nothing is clear at this time”. Mr. Rebola did not rule out the possibility that these guys deliberately targeted Messi to “be known to many people”.
Argentina’s President said he will protect absolute safety when Messi returns to Argentina. At this time, the 35-year-old superstar is still in France to play for the PSG owner team. It is expected that in March, Argentina will gather to play two international friendly matches. With the recent incident, it is not clear whether Messi will be summoned or not.
Messi is considered the “living saint” of the Argentine people, especially after he and his teammates won the 2022 World Cup. During the trophy procession, tens of thousands of Argentines poured into the streets to celebrate with the whole team.
