Despite the fact that Kenny and Bobbi McCaughey were blessed with a beautiful daughter, they decided to give her a new sibling in 1997. The couple struggled mightily to get Pʀᴇɢɴᴀɴᴛ with Mikayla, so they turned to fertility ᴅʀᴜɢs to ensure a safe and healthy pregnancy.
Three months after the ultrasound, Kenny and Bobbi were sʜᴏᴄᴋed to learn that there were not one, not two, but seven heartbeats in her ᴡᴏᴍʙ.
The doctors cautioned the parents that there was a slim chance the Bᴀʙɪᴇꜱ would survive birth. Kenny and Bobby insisted on continuing with the pregnancy and trusted God to handle everything.
On November 19, 1997, Bobbi delivered all seven of her children nine weeks early. There were four Bs and three females. The term “Mɪʀᴀᴄʟᴇ Bᴀʙɪᴇꜱ” was later used to these kids.
The physicians were sᴜʀᴘʀɪsᴇd that all of the infants were healthy and doing well. These Bᴀʙɪᴇꜱ attracted a lot of media attention and quickly became well-known. The couple began declining requests for interviews and photos when they turned 10 in 2007. The Sᴇᴘᴛᴜᴘʟᴇᴛꜱ were born in good health, and they are now getting ready to turn 20 and become adults.
At their home in Carlisle, Iowa, Kenny, Kelsey, Natalie, Brandon, Alexis, Nathan, and Joel—the first Sᴇᴘᴛᴜᴘʟᴇᴛꜱ to live—will soon celebrate turning 18 on November 19.
The family recently spoke with NBC News about their amazing experience and how President Bill Clinton personally contacted them while they were expecting and helped them out financially. The pair was also invited to appear on Oprah Winfrey’s show, and companies offered to help them with their finances and other amenities.
In the first several months after birth, the Sᴇᴘᴛᴜᴘʟᴇᴛꜱ reportedly required 42 bottles of formula per day and 56 diaper changes. However, they were fortunate because of how polite everyone was. A year’s worth of macaroni and cheese, diapers, a minivan, a 5,500-square-foot house, and a two-year full scholarship to any state university in Iowa were also provided.
The family is still residing in the homes that were provided to them by the government. Kenny and Bobbi thank everyone for their help and say thank you. They were able to raise seven kids with the assistance they received.
Their family and friends were always ready to lend a hand. Eight infants are difficult to raise, but Bobbi says it’s all worth it when you see them smile and grow into wonderful people.
Two of the children, Alexis and Nathan, were born with cerebral palsy. Both of them underwent surgery, and they had successful outcomes. Currently, Alexis works with underprivileged kids and talks to them about her experiences.
A daughter named Mikayla, who is 22 years old, married, and a mother already, was also born to the couple.
