A lot of us have some big fears. Fear of doctors, fear of dentists, fear of the IRS. And when you’re young, you can even have a fear of barbers.

Young Mason, who has autism, was scared more than most. And the barber his parents brought him to, James Williams, tried for over a month to figure out the best possible way to settle the youngster down for a haircut.

He was particularly fearful of the razor and scissors getting anywhere close to his ear. But finally, it hit James. Mason always seemed so much more comfortable on the floor. So James had him get on the floor and play a game on his parents’ phone. This kept his mind busy while James knelt down and clipped away.

Says James: “We both layed on the floor in silence & he allowed me to cut away & give him his first proper haircut, again achieving something in a job I love, making both parents happy by giving extra attention to Mason by building a friendship at trust with Mason & myself.”

And after that big moment of success when the haircut was finished, James asked the little guy to give him a high five. But Mason didn’t go for that. Instead, he gave his barber and new best friend a big hug. For James, it was a good day. A really good day.
