Elizabeth Govern, or Nana Betty, as she’s called by her family, was asked by her granddaughter, Christine, to be one of her four bridesmaids – quite an honor for the bride-to-be to ask someone to do this.

But there was a really good reason that Christine asked her grandmother to do it… She was one of her best and closest friends. But it was no easy task for Christine to convince her 89-year-old grandmother to do it. She had to ask her 10 times before Elizabeth finally gave in and said she would.
Her granddaughter was definitely determined to have her stand with her on the most important day of her life. And Elizabeth was absolutely beautiful in her big role for her granddaughter. And beyond that, said Christine, she was the life and soul of the party.

Says Christine: “She had the entire wedding party laughing with her words of wisdom and funny comments throughout the day.”
And at the reception, Elizabeth danced the night away. And when it was over, Elizabeth couldn’t be any happier, and said, “I feel young today.”
