Chelsea have been dealt a major injury blow ahead of their Champions League second-leg tie against Borussia Dortmund.
Chelsea host Borussia Dortmund in the second-leg of their Champions League tie with a one-goal deficit to overcome.
Chelsea are going through an extremely difficult time under Graham Potter and a win against Borussia Dortmund could do a world of good for the club, fans, players, manager, and everyone involved at Chelsea.
However, it looks like they’re going to have to deal without one of the players who has been a shining light this season.
According to The Times, Thiago Silva has been ruled out for at least a week through injury after being forced off against Tottenham in the Premier League at the weekend. As a result, Silva could miss their second-leg tie at home to Dortmund.
Silva has been one of Chelsea’s best players this season and is still performing at an elite-level despite being 38 years old.
Silva recently signed a new deal at the club which will have undoubtedly been a huge positive for Chelsea fans during this period of struggle this season.
Chelsea’s Andrey Santos is spotted at Vasco game as he prepares to re-join the club on loan
Chelsea’s Andrey Santos was in attendance at Vasco da Gama vs Boavista on Monday.
The 18-year-old is set to return on loan to Vasco, after they and Chelsea agreed terms on a loan move until the end of June.
Chelsea signed Santos in January but they were unable to get a work permit for him to play in England.
The midfielder, who will likely represent Brazil at the Under-20 World Cup which starts in May, will return to Chelsea in July – with the hope that a work permit will then be granted.
He is set to begin training with the team later this week, but, in a photo shared by @Nathan_Gissing on Twitter, watched on as the side played.
The Blues saw off interest from the likes of Man City and Newcastle to snap up the teenager in an £18m move during the January transfer window.
He was one of eight summer signings in a huge winter spurge from owner Todd Boehly, but was unable to take to the pitch.
He joined from Vasco, where he played 37 times, scoring eight goals.
The game finished 4-1 to Vasco, with Pedro Raul, Alex Teixeira and Jose Luis Rodriguez all on the scoresheet.
Speaking in Chelsea’s pre-match press conference ahead of their Premier League loss to Southampton earlier this month, Potter mentioned the Brazilian’s situation.
Potter said: ‘Santos is still in the same place. We’re looking at what the options are for him.’
The move is set to be completed in the coming days.
