Erik ten Hag has won his first trophy as Manchester United manager after beating Newcastle United 2-0 in Sunday’s League Cup final – and celebrated his achievement with some sensational dad dancing alongside Antony and Lisandro Martinez.
Goals from Casemiro and an own goal from Sven Botman ensured United ended a six-year trophy drought with a pragmatic victory at Wembley.
Newcastle pushed hard to restore parity in the second half, but Ten Hag’s side held firm to win the first domestic silverware of the 2022-23 season.
“We have been searching for this moment,” Bruno Fernandes told Sky Sports after lifting the trophy with Harry Maguire.
“I am satisfied now because I get my trophy but I want more. It’s the first trophy of the season but we want more and need more. This is not enough for this club.”
Ten Hag certainly enjoyed the moment and treated United supporters to some excellent dad dancing to mark his success.
Speaking about having dinner with Ferguson last week, the United manager explained: “I always enjoy speaking with people who have a lot of knowledge, a lot of experience and he wants to share it, he wants to help and support.
“Man United is his club and he feels so committed. We are doing well. It was a great night and I look forward to the next night with him.”
Asked whether he still feels the Scot’s influence at the club, Ten Hag told BT Sport: “Every day he’s here and you feel it. He brought the winning mentality, attitude and culture to this club.
“[Being] hard to beat, confidence, belief – he brought it and it’s great to talk with him.”
We wouldn’t bet against Ten Hag adding more trophies to his collection at Old Trafford.

Video: United star hilariously ignores Avram Glazer amidst triumphant celebrations
Manchester United skipper Harry Maguire seemed to deliberately air Avram Glazer as the team kicked off their Carabao Cup trophy celebrations.
Amidst the triumphant celebrations, a video that has surfaced on social media shows Maguire completely ignoring Avram Glazer.
The Peoples Person reported that Avram would be in attendance for the game, and so he was.
Avram’s presence in the game against Newcastle was only the fourth time he has attended a United game since 2019.
As Maguire proceeded to receive the trophy, he aired a clapping Avram Glazer.
If the game against Newcastle was anything to go by, the Glazers are still deeply unpopular within the United fanbase.
Multiple times during the 90 minutes, there were anti-Glazer chants that definitively relayed a common message – the American family needs to guarantee a full sale, pack up and go.
This comes amidst numerous reports that the Glazers may not necessarily sell the club and there are scenarios in which they remain in charge at Old Trafford.
Elliott Management, an American hedge fund has reportedly offered the Glazers funding which would allow them to remain in control at United.
