The oldest shoe ever found in Britain washed up on a beach in Ket. The leather shoe, which dates back 3,000 years, was found by archaeologist Steve Tomlio.
Tomlioso didn’t think the shoe was unusual when he found it, but he set it aside for a carbo-dating event at an East Kilbride, Scotland-based establishment. He received a response stating that the shoe was from the late Bronze Period five weeks later.

Tomliso remembers, “I got a call from a getlema at the lab who said to me, “I think yo better sit down for this.”
The date they gave me was simply astounding. It’s credible and quite uncommon. Fabrics like these don’t survive very often; instead, they must be fed in an anaerobic environment, according to Tomlio.
The shoe is 15 cm long and is believed to have been made by a two to three year old.
“In 2005, it was thought that the oldest shoe in the UK was a 2,000-year-old pair discovered by archaeologists working in a Somerset quarry.
