Paul Scholes hails Bruno Fernandes for sacrificing himself for the teamSpeaking after the Barcelona game on BT Sport (h/t Daily Mail), Paul Scholes hails Bruno Fernandes for sacrificing his favoured position for the betterment of Manchester United on the night.
Erik ten Hag started Fernandes on the right wing in the first half of the Barcelona game on Thursday. Despite giving a penalty away in the first half, the Portugal international was one of the best players in the team.

After the break, the manager switched things around and brought Antony on to play on the right wing, allowing Fernandes to operate in his more natural number 10 position. The captain made up for his error in the first half by assisting the equaliser scored by Fred.
Here’s what Scholes said when praising the Portuguese international for his positional sacrifice (h/t Daily Mail):
“Sacrifice is what it’s all about in these big games.
“Rooney did it so many times to accommodate Cristiano Ronaldo, bringing that anticipation and quality to the team that Bruno has, and wherever he plays in the team he is capable of creating a goal.”
While we cannot take the credit away from Fernandes for not letting his head down because he is playing in an unfamiliar position, the team played their best football on the night when he was switched to his natural position.
It is a good message for the future though, that the 28-year-old will do whatever it takes to win games for Manchester United.`

There is a good feel about how things are going at the moment. Erik ten Hag seems to have everything under control. His decisions and changes are also making an impact just how he would like them to.
There is a big game coming up on Sunday – the Carabao Cup Final against Newcastle United. While we can praise the Dutchman for the job he has done so far, trophies are the currency of success at Old Trafford. Let’s hope we end our six-year drought for a trophy by lifting the cup this weekend.
Man Utd ‘very interested’ in signing Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund
Manchester United are ‘very interested’ in signing Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund this summer, according to Danish magazine Tipsbladet.
The Red Devils signed Wout Weghorst on loan from Burnley last month and the Dutchman has been a regular up front in the injury absence of Anthony Martial.
However, it is unlikely that the 30-year-old will be signed permanently and the club are expected to pursue a young striker when the transfer window reopens.
United have been linked with Benfica’s Goncalo Ramos and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen lately, but Tipsbladet claim that they are ‘very interested’ in Hojlund.
owever, there is still a ‘long way to go’ before a transfer can be agreed, considering there is vast competition from clubs from across Europe.
Juventus, AC Milan, Real Madrid, Napoli as well as Arsenal are keeping tabs on the Denmark starlet, who is currently valued at €50 million by Atalanta.
Hojlund has the potential to become world-class
The 20-year-old joined Atalanta from Sturm Graz in late August. He contributed just one goal and one assist from 12 appearances before the World Cup.
However, his form has been superb since the turn of the year. Hojlund has bagged six goals and one assist from his last 10 games – eight of those being starts.
Hence, he has started to show his true potential. His playing style can be compared to Erling Haaland as he is also left-footed, strongly built and gifted with pace.
If United are serious about signing him, they may need to start off negotiations early as there could be a huge bidding war for his services at the end of the season.
A summer deal for Hojlund over Osimhen would suggest that manager Erik ten Hag is leaning towards developing youngsters rather than making big-name signings.
