The debate about who is the best of the “new” generation between Kylian Mbappé and Erling Haaland has been a topic of discussion among football enthusiasts and analysts for quite some time. Both players have been lighting up the football world with record-breaking performances since they took the pitch, so like Messi and Ronaldo there is no wonder why they are the topic of discussion.
However, just like Messi and Ronaldo, there seems to be no animosity between them. At least on the part of the Norwegian forward. In a recent interview with RMC, Erling Haaland expressed his admiration for Kylian Mbappé explaining, “There are so many good players and Kylian is one of them. He is so strong! The French are so lucky that he plays for France. I would like him to play for Norway obviously, but it’s not the case. But yes, he’s an incredible player.”
Man City’s number nine did not hold back when pouring on compliments about the former World Cup winner. He went on to say, “He’s so fast, so strong and he’s been doing it for so many years. What is he? Two years older than me? It’s crazy! Sometimes you have to tell yourself that he still has ten years of playing at the top level. He is phenomenal.”
Haaland’s comments may dim the imagination of a rivalry between them personally, but on the field, there is no doubt that they push each other and the game forward. Ultimately, the football world benefits from these two young phenoms picking up the batons from the past generation in the battle for greatness.
